Man charged following indecent assault on train in Parramatta

A man has been charged following investigations into the indecent assault of a woman on a train near Parramatta Railway Station earlier this year, NSW Police say.

About 10.30am on Wednesday 31 May 2017, a 19-year-old woman was on a train between Liverpool and Parramatta Railway Stations.

While on the train, a man sat next to her and allegedly indecently assaulted her before getting off the train at Parramatta Railway Station.

The woman got off the train a short time later at Blacktown Railway Station and reported the incident to police.

About 12.30pm yesterday, following investigations by officers from Police Transport Command’s Operation Artemis, a 36-year-old Liverpool man was arrested in Parramatta.

Operation Artemis is an ongoing operation with officers from the Police Transport Command targeting those who commit indecent or sexual offences on the public transport network.

He was taken to Parramatta Police Station where he was charged with assault with act of indecency and common assault and granted conditional bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court on 23 August 2017.
