A man has been charged following a crash that left a police officer with serious injuries in Mount Duneed on Tuesday (20 November), Victoria Police say.
The male sergeant was injured after the stationary marked police car he had been standing next to was allegedly struck by another vehicle on the Surf Coast Highway shortly after 1pm.
He was taken to hospital with non-life threatening leg injuries.
The driver of the vehicle, a 21-year-old Melton West man, was taken to hospital under police guard.
He has since been charged with false imprisonment, reckless conduct endangering life, intentionally cause serious injury and intentionally expose emergency worker to risk by driving.
The man has been remanded to appear at Geelong Magistrates’ Court today.
