Man charged following pursuit in Leumeah

Police have charged a disqualified driver following a pursuit in Sydney’s south west yesterday, NSW Police say.

Just before 7pm today, Traffic and Highway Patrol Command officers attempted to stop a Holden sedan on Pembroke Road, Leumeah, after receiving information the vehicle was stolen.

A pursuit was initiated when the car allegedly failed to stop.

It was terminated a short time later when the Holden stopped on Rudd Road and the driver exited the vehicle.

Police commenced a short foot pursuit and after a struggle, a 26-year-old man was arrested.

During the struggle, a male Senior Constable injured his knee.

Inquiries revealed the 26-year-old driver is disqualified from driving until 2034.

He was taken to Campbelltown Police Station and charged with drive while disqualified, take and use conveyance, resist arrest (x2) and assault police.

The man was refused bail to face Campbelltown Local Court today tomorrow.
