Man charged following service station armed robbery, NSW

A man has been charged following the armed robbery of a service station in Rooty Hill at the weekend, NSW Police say.

About 2.40am (Saturday 25 August 2018), a 28-year-old man was working at a service station on Rooty Hill Road North, when a man allegedly forced his way in by preventing the glass door from closing.

The man, who was allegedly armed with a firearm, was in company with two other men as they threatened the employee while making demands for cash and cigarettes.

The employee complied and handed the trio a sum of cash and cigarettes before they ran from the premises.

The alarm was raised and officers from Mt Druitt Police Area Command attended the scene and commenced inquiries.

About 4.40pm today, (Monday 27 August 2018), detectives arrested an 18-year-old man at a premises in Buttigieg Place, Plumpton.

He was taken to Mt Druitt Police Station where he was charged with aggravated armed robbery.

He was refused bail and will appear in Mt Druitt Local Court tomorrow (Tuesday 28 August 2018).

Investigations into the identity of the two other men continue.
