A man will face court today after a pistol and drugs were seized following an alleged pursuit in the state's south.
Just after 11.20am yesterday (Monday 2 March 2026), police were called to Crowes Road, Coolac, following reports of a man allegedly supplying prohibited drugs.
When officers attached to Riverina Police District attended and attempted to speak to the man, he left the scene in a sedan.
When he allegedly failed to stop, a pursuit was initiated; however, a short time later, it was terminated due to safety concerns.
About 12.30pm on the same day, officers attached to Traffic and Highway Patrol Command were patrolling on Darbalara Road, Darbalara, approximately 18km west of Gundagai, when they located the sedan and initiated a second pursuit.
A short time later, the vehicle crashed into a paddock gate coming to stop at a rural property before the driver left the scene on foot.
During a search of the nearby area police arrested the driver - a 31-year-old man - before taking him to Gundagai Police Station.
Following the arrest, police conducted a search of the paddock locating and seizing a pistol. Officers also searched the sedan before seizing a mobile phone and a small amount of methylamphetamine.
The man was charged with police pursuit - not stop - drive dangerously (two counts), possess loaded firearm public place, possess unregistered firearm, possess unauthorised pistol, possess ammunition without holding licence/permit/authority, not keep firearm safely - prohibited firearm, learner not accompanied by driver/police officer/tester, and prohibited drug.
He was refused bail to appear at Bail Division Court 5 on Tuesday 3 March 2026.
