A man will face court over a domestic violence offence in Orange after he was arrested in the state's north west today.
In December 2025, officers attached to Western Region Domestic Violence High Risk Offender Team (DVHROT) and Central West commenced an investigation following reports of a 33-year-old woman was assaulted by a man known to her in Orange area.
On Thursday 15 January 2026, inquiries have led police to allege the man was travelling from Queensland to the northern NSW.
Following inquiries, about 4.30pm on the same day, the Western Region DVHROT officers, with the assistance from New England Police District and Traffic and Highway Patrol Command, arrested a 32-year-old man on Carnarvon Highway, Mungindi, approximately 121km north west of Moree.
He was taken to Moree Police Station where he was charged with larceny value less than or equal to $2000, destroy or damage property, hinder or resist police officer in the execution of duty, assault police officer in execution of duty without actual bodily harm, destroy or damage property less than or equal to $2000, and drive licence suspended under S66 Fines Act.
He was subsequently charged with four outstanding warrants on common assault (DV), destroy or damage property more than $15000 (DV), stalk/intimidate intend fear physical etc harm (three counts), and assault occasioning actual bodily harm (DV).
He was refused bail to appear at Bail Division Court 5 tomorrow (Friday 16 January 2026).
