A man has been charged following a police operation in Surry Hills tonight.
Local police were assisted by officers from across the metropolitan region as well as various specialist units at a planned public assembly in Harmony Park, about 5pm today (Tuesday 10 February 2026).
About 7pm, an 18-year-old man was arrested after allegedly continuously shining a torch in the face of police officers.
He was taken to Surry Hills Police Station where he was charged with three counts of assault police officer in execution of duty without actual bodily harm, and custody of knife in public place.
He was refused bail to appear before Bail Division Court 7 tomorrow (Wednesday 11 February 2026).
