Man Charged in Tweed Heads Domestic Assault: NSW Police

A man will face court today after being charged with alleged serious domestic violence related offences in Sydney's inner west earlier this year.

In May 2023, officers from Burwood Police Area Command commenced an investigation after a woman was allegedly assaulted in Drummoyne by a man known to her.

When the 48-year-old man was unable to be located, assistance was sought from the Southwest Metropolitan Domestic Violence High Risk Offender Team (SWMDVHROT) to locate the man.

On Thursday 18 July 2023 a warrant was issued for his arrest and police commenced inquiries into his whereabouts.

About 3.30pm on Tuesday 15 August 2023, the man was arrested with the assistance of Queensland Police Service Tactical Crime Squad (TCS) in Logan Queensland and taken to Beenleigh Police Station.

On Wednesday 16 August 2023, the man appeared before Beenleigh Magistrates Court where an extradition order was granted.

On Thursday 17 August 2023, officers attached to the (SWMDVHROT), executed the warrant in Tweed Heads Local Court and the man was refused bail to appear before Tweed Head Local Court today Friday 18 August 2023
