Man charged over armed robberies, Gold Coast

Gold Coast detectives have charged a man in relation to the alleged armed robbery of a hotel in Surfers Paradise on October 10 and the attempted armed robbery of a tavern at Hope Island on October 22, Queensland Police say.

In both incidents it is alleged a firearm was used by the man.

Following the robbery of a tavern at Hope Island it is further alleged the man crashed a vehicle at Olsen Avenue at Coombabah.

A 31-year-old man from Ashmore has been charged with a total of 19 offences including armed robbery, attempted robbery, enter premises with intent to commit indictable offence, enter premises with intent to commit indictable offence by break, serious assault with intent to commit crime or resist arrest, unlawful possession of weapons used to commit indictable offence and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.

He is due to face Southport Magistrates Court tomorrow.

Investigations are continuing.
