Man charged over assault in Bonnyrigg

A man has been charged over an alleged assault and affray in Sydney’s south-west overnight, NSW Police say.

Shortly after 2am (Sunday 5 November 2017), two groups who were previously not known to each other became involved in an altercation in a car park of a fast food restaurant on Smithfield Road, Bonnyrigg.

The fight continued onto Smithfield Road and police were alerted.

Officers from Fairfield Local Area Command attended and established a crime scene.

Two men – aged 20 and 52 – were taken to Liverpool Hospital for treatment to injuries sustained during the altercation.

Following inquiries, the 20-year-old man was arrested after he was released from hospital.

The Fairfield man was charged with two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm; malicious damage; and affray.

He was refused bail to appear at Fairfield Local Court tomorrow (Monday 6 November 2017).

Inquiries into the incident continue and further charges are anticipated.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
