Police have charged a man following an alleged assault in Box Hill on Tuesday night, Victoria Police say.
Whitehorse Crime Investigation Unit detectives charged the 22-year-old with intentionally cause serious injury.
The Mill Park man is expected to appear in the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court later today.
The victim, a man in his 40s, suffered life-threatening injuries and remains in hospital.
