Man charged over historical sexual assaults in Newcastle.

Police investigating historical sexual assaults have charged a man in Newcastle, on the state’s North Coast, NSW Police say.

Newcastle Detectives commenced investigations into the alleged sexual assaults of three children that occurred between 1976 and 1992.

Following inquiries, yesterday (29 May 2017) an 82-year-old Hamilton man was arrested and taken to Newcastle Police Station.

He was charged with seven counts of Assault female & commit act of indecency aged under 16 years, Attempt buggery, Buggery, three counts of Sexual Assault - Assault & commit act of indecency, and four counts of Assault with act of indecency.

The man has been given conditional bail and will appear at Newcastle Local Court on Thursday 15 June 2017.
