A man will appear in court today after being charged following a police pursuit in the Blue Mountains yesterday, NSW Police say.
About 3pm on Thursday 23 August 2018, a stolen grey Mazda SUV was detected travelling west on the Great Western Highway at Faulconbridge.
The vehicle was travelling at over 100kph in a 40kph zone.
Officers attached to the Blue Mountains Highway Patrol were unable to locate the vehicle when they attempted to follow it.
Other HWP officers sighted the vehicle at Linden and started to follow the Mazda.
A police pursuit commenced near Woodford Railway Station with the Mazda reaching speeds of up to 150 kph.
When the Mazda was involved in a minor collision with two other vehicles, the pursuit was terminated, and a perimeter was established near Wentworth Falls.
The vehicle was eventually located in Sir Henry Burrell Drive at Wentworth Falls by the police helicopter (PolAir).
A 29-year-old man was arrested after a short struggle, and was taken to Katoomba Hospital for treatment and mandatory testing.
After being released from hospital the man was taken to Katoomba Police Station where he was charged with numerous traffic offences, use weapon to avoid apprehension, assault police, resist police and intimidate police.
He has been refused bail to appear at Penrith Local Court today (Friday 24 August 2018).
No one was injured during the pursuit and the Mazda has been seized for forensic testing.
