Man charged over possession of child abuse material, NSW

A man will face court today charged over the alleged possession of child abuse material, NSW Police say.

During November 2018, investigations were commenced by officers from Western Australia Police after a mobile phone was located at a home in Karatha.

It’s alleged that phone was found to contain a number of images and video files of child abuse material.

Investigations led Western Australia Police to notify officers in the Manning/Great Lakes Police District who yesterday (Monday 17 December 2018) about 4.30pm, attended a home in Old Bar, near Taree.

At the premises police spoke with a 50-year-old man and a search of his home was conducted.

Police will allege they located a number of electronic storage devices and mobile phones that contained child abuse material.

He was arrested and taken to Taree Police Station where he was charged with possess child abuse material.

He was refused bail and will appear in Forster Local Court today (Tuesday 18 December 2018).
