Joondalup Detectives have charged a 54 year old man in relation to an incident in Ridgewood yesterday (7 June 2017), involving a 12 year old girl.
The man was arrested today as a result of proactive targeted patrols of the Ridgewood area by police and information received from members of the public, WA Police say.
It is alleged around 8:45am the man approached the girl as she was walking along a footpath on Hinchinbrook Avenue near Ballymote Park and grabbed her by the wrist. She managed to break free of his grip after a brief struggle and run from the area.
The man of no fixed address has been charged with one count each of Deprivation of Liberty and Assault.
He has been refused bail and is due to appear before the Perth Magistrates Court tomorrow, 10 June 2017.
