Man charged with assault, second man critical in East Hills

A man has been charged after an assault at a hotel in East Hills on Friday night, which has left a second man in a critical condition, NSW Police say.

About 11.50pm (10 March 2017), a 21-year-old man approached a female employee of a hotel on Maclaurin Avenue as she left the premises via the front door.

The man began to film her on his phone when a 45-year-old man went to the woman’s assistance.

Police will allege the younger man assaulted that man and a second man, aged 50.

The 21-year-old man left the scene and emergency services were called.

The 45-year-old man was treated at the scene and the older man was taken to Liverpool Hospital where he remains in a critical, but stable condition.

Officers from Bankstown Local Area Command attended and commenced an investigation.

Following inquiries, about 12.30am yesterday, police attended an address in Penshurst and arrested a 21-year-old man.

He was taken to Kogarah Police Station where he was charged with reckless grievous bodily harm and common assault.

The man was refused bail and appeared at Parramatta Bail Court where he was formally refused bail, to reappear at Bankstown Local Court on Wednesday (15 March 2017).
