Man Charged With Break-Ins at Griffith

A man has been charged with break and enter and stealing offences in the state's south.

Police were contacted after a car was allegedly stolen from Hardiman Way, Griffith, about 3.30am on Monday 27 April 2026.

Officers responded to the scene and seized CCTV and commenced inquiries.

About 11am, on Wednesday 29 April 2026, police were contacted, after the alleged stolen vehicle was located inside a shed on Lawrence Road, Bilbul.

Officers attended the scene and seized the car for forensic examination.

Following inquiries, yesterday ( Monday 18 May 2026), officers conducted a vehicle stop on Merrigal Street, Griffith, where they located a 20-year-old man in the passenger seat.

Officers asked the man to get out of the vehicle; however, when he exited the car, he allegedly ran away on foot and was arrested a short time later.

He was taken to Griffith Police Station and charged with possess implements to enter/drive conveyance, enter vehicle or boat without consent of owner and be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner.

The man was refused bail to appear in Bail Division Court 5 today ( Tuesday 19 May 2026), where he was formally refused bail to appear in Griffith Local Court on Wednesday 27 May 2026.
