Man Charged With Child Abuse Material Possession in NSW

A man faced court today charged with allegedly possessing child abuse material in the Illawarra region.

In August 2023, detectives attached to Lake Illawarra Police District received information a man was allegedly trading child abuse material online.

Following inquiries, investigators executed a search warrant at a home yesterday (Thursday 16, 2023), seizing several electronic devices which will be forensically examined.

A 25-year-old man was arrested and taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station where he was charged with possess child abuse material, and person possesses bestiality material.

Police will allege the devices contained more than 100 video files, more than 60 images that classify as child abuse material. Police will also allege one video contained bestiality material.

The man appeared at Wollongong Local Court today (Friday 17 November 2023), where he was granted conditional bail to appear at the same court on Tuesday 5 December 2023.
