Man Charged With Child Abuse Material, Drugs, Arms

Sex Crimes Squad detectives have charged a man with allegedly possessing child abuse material, drugs and firearms under Strike Force Angler.

Strike Force Angler was established in May 2026 by detectives attached to State Crime Command's Sex Crimes Squad Child Exploitation Internet Unit (CEIU) to investigate individuals who allegedly use the internet to access, purchase or transmit child abuse material.

Following extensive inquiries, about 7.15am yesterday (Monday 4 May 2026) strike force detectives executed a search warrant in Bilambil Heights.

During the search, police seized five gel blaster replica firearms and ammunition, 46g of cannabis and electronic devices allegedly containing child abuse and bestiality material.

A 36-year-old man was arrested and taken to Tweed Heads Police Station where he was charged with twenty offences, including:

  • 2 x Possess unauthorised pistol
  • 2 x Possess unregistered firearm-pistol
  • 2 x Not keep firearm safely-pistol
  • 3 x Possess unauthorised firearm
  • 3 x Possess unregistered firearm-not pistol/prohibited firearm
  • Not keep firearm safely-not pistol/prohibited firearm
  • Possess ammunition w/o holding licence/permit/authority
  • Possess prohibited drug
  • 4 x Use carriage to access child abuse material
  • Person possesses animal sexual abuse material

He was refused bail to appear at Bail Division Local Court 1 today (Tuesday 5 May 2026).

Inquiries under Strike Force Angler are ongoing.
