Man Charged with Dangerous Driving and Evade Incident

A 30-year-old Dromedary man has been charged following a dangerous driving and evade incident which occurred on the Midland Highway on 20 May.

Police observed a yellow Yamaha R6 motorcycle travelling at high speed in a northerly direction near Oatlands at around 11am.

Upon attempting to intercept the motorcycle, police will allege the rider evaded police and continued driving in a dangerous manner.

It is estimated that at times the rider was travelling at speeds in excess of 200km/h.

The motorcycle was located at Perth after being abandoned by the driver. Following investigations, the rider was later apprehended by police and has been

charged with dangerous driving, aggravated evade police and driving whilst disqualified.

The man has been bailed and is due to appear before the Hobart Magistrates court at a later date.

Investigations continue and it is likely that the rider will face further charges.

Police would like to thank members of the public in coming forward and assisting with enquiries.
