Man Charged With Drug Supply in Mayfield

A man will face court today charged with multiple alleged drug supply offences near Newcastle.

In March 2026, officers attached to Hunter Region Enforcement Squad established Strike Force Norlita and commenced an investigation into commercial drug supply offences in the Mayfield area.

Just after 12.40pm yesterday (Tuesday 31 March 2026), police were on Hanbury Street, Mayfield, when they located a man acting suspiciously.

When officers approached the man, he allegedly attempted to leave the scene.

The 40-year-old man was arrested followng a brief foot pursuit and taken to Newcastle Police Station.

A search of the man allegedly revealed 42g of a white crystal substance and $3,845 cash.

About 5.15pm, strike force detectives executed a search warrant at a hotel room on Hanbury Street, Mayfield, where they allegedly located and seized 717g methylamphetamine, 215g GHB, 0.7g heroin, along with digital scales, $5,850 cash, resealable bags, and capsicum spray.

He was charged with,

  • Two counts of supply prohibited drug (greater than indictable and less than commercial quantity)
  • Supply prohibited drug (greater than or equal to large commercial quantity)
  • Two counts of deal with property proceeds of crime,
  • Two counts of possess prohibited drug, and
  • Possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit.

He was refused bail to appear at Bail Division Court 2 today (Wednesday 1 April 2026).
