Man charged with firearm offences in Mullumbimby

A man will appear in court today after allegedly firing shots on a property in the states north yesterday, NSW Police say.

About 7pm on Saturday 10 November 2018, police from Tweed/Byron Police District were called to an address in Wilson’s Creek, west of Mullumbimby.

Police attended and established a perimeter.

Police were informed that a man had allegedly fired a number of shots and made threats towards several people who were also on the property.

Several neighbours were evacuated as specialist police resources were called to the location.


About 8.30pm, a 29-year-old man was arrested without incident by attending officers.


A number of firearms, as well as drugs and ammunition were located and seized from the home.

There were no reports of injury from the incident.

The man was taken to Tweed Heads Police Station where he was later charged with possess unregistered firearm (x 2), not keep firearm safe (x 2), possess ammunition without a permit, handle firearm whilst under the influence and fire firearm in a manner likely to injure.

Further charges relating to the drugs seized are pending.

The man has been refused bail to appear at Tweed Heads Bail Court today (Sunday 11 November 2018).
