A man has been charged following a police operation in Sydney's inner west yesterday.
Just after 8.30am (Wednesday 13 May 2026), police were called to a unit complex on Walker Street, Rhodes, following reports of a man with a firearm.
Police were told road workers were approached by an unknown man with a firearm before he left the scene and entered an apartment on the same street.
A perimeter was established and additional resources from the Public Order Riot Squad (PORS) attended to assist.
Following inquiries, about 9.50am, officers arrested a 36-year-old man in the building on Walker Street.
The man was taken to Burwood Police Station before being transferred to Concord Hospital for further assessment.
As part of inquiries, police executed a warrant at the Walker Street unit, seizing two replica firearms and a small amount of cannabis for a forensic examination.
The man was later released from the hospital and returned to Burwood Police Station where he was charged with stalk/intimidate intend fear physical etc harm (two counts), enter building/land with firearm or imitation firearm, possess unregistered unauthorised pistol in public place, custody of knife in public place, assault police officer in execution of duty cause actual bodily harm, hinder or resist police officer in the execution of duty, and possess unauthorised firearm.
He was refused bail to appear at Burwood Local Court today (Thursday 14 May 2026).
