Man charged with firearms offences after Modbury pursuit, SA

A man has been arrested for traffic and firearm offences following a pursuit at Modbury last night, according to SA Police.

Just before 10pm on Monday 16 May police were conducting a patrol of the Modbury area when they spotted a silver Holden sedan which suddenly sped off and disobeyed a red traffic light.

Police pursued the car through back streets until it stopped at the intersection of Grand Junction and Reservoir Roads where the driver was arrested without incident.

Patrols searched the man’s car and allegedly located a loaded firearm on the front passenger seat along with ammunition.

A 22-year-old man from Mansfield Park was charged with driving to evade police, driving disqualified, possess unregistered firearm, possess firearm without a licence, failing to store ammunition correctly and breach of bail.

He was refused bail and will appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court today.
