Man Charged With Kidnap, Assault at Lake Macquarie

A man will face court today charged with domestic violence offences in Lake Macquarie and Sydney.

About 3.30pm yesterday (Tuesday 11 August 2026), police were called to a home at Bolton Point following reports a domestic violence assault was underway.

Police forced entry to the location where OC spray was deployed to effect the arrest of a 24-year-old man.

A woman and child at the location were assessed by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to John Hunter Hospital for further assessment.

Police will allege in court that the man allegedly threatened and assaulted the woman and her child on several occasions.

Police will further allege that the woman and child were held at a location in Auburn against their will.

The man was taken to Toronto Police Station and charged with 12 offences,

  • Armed with intent commit indictable offence (two counts)
  • Assault occasioning actual bodily harm (DV) (two counts)
  • Intentionally choke etc person without consent (DV)
  • Kidnap with intent commit serious indictable offence occasion actual bodily harm
  • Use etc offensive weapon with intent to commit indictable offence (two counts)
  • Stalk/intimidate intend fear physical etc harm (domestic) (two counts), and
  • Common assault (DV) (two counts).

He was refused bail to appear before Bail Division Court 2 today (Wednesday 12 August 2026).
