A two year investigation has resulted in a former firearms dealer being charged with 397 firearms and explosive related offences, NSW Police say.
In September 2015 police commenced an investigation into firearms breaches on Sydney’s northern beaches.
The investigation included officers from the New South Wales Firearms Registry, the Alcohol and Licensing Command (ALEC) and Northern Beaches Local Area Command.
The focus of the investigation was a former firearms dealership in Terrey Hills.
During the investigation police seized a number of firearms and explosive material, including gunpowder.
Following the complex and protracted investigation, a 71-year-old man was on Wednesday 31 May 2017 charged with 397 firearms and explosives related offences.
The man was issued a future court attendance notice to appear before Manly Local Court on Wednesday 5 July 2015.
As a result of the investigation police are aware of 78 firearms that remain unaccounted for.
Police are urging anybody with information in relation to these firearms to contact Crime Stoppers.
