Man critical following two vehicle collision in Young

A man is in a critical condition in hospital following a two vehicle collision in Young today, NSW Police say.

About 4pm today, a black Holden Calais was travelling north on Back Creek Road, about 200m north of Standley Park Road, when it collided with a Toyota RAV4 travelling south.

The driver of the Toyota, a 61-year-old man, was trapped for a short time before being freed. He was air lifted to Westmead Hospital with critical injuries.

The driver of the Holden, a 68-year-old woman, and her passenger, a 72-year-old man, were treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance Paramedics before being taken Young Hospital with minor injuries.

Both drivers have undergone mandatory blood and urine testing.

Officers from Cootamundra Local Area Command attended the scene and a crime scene was established.

Crash Investigation Unit will examine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
