Police are investigating a hit-run collision in Heidelberg West this evening.
Emergency services were called to reports a man had been struck by a car on Blackwood Parade about 7.30pm.
Investigators have been told a man was attempting to stop his vehicle being stolen by an unknown offender when he was struck by the vehicle.
The vehicle fled the scene and no arrests have been made.
A 68-year-old man was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
A crime scene has been established and the investigation is ongoing.
Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are processing the scene.
