Man dies after being found in burning house at Albury

A man has died after being found in his burning home at North Albury yesterday.

Emergency services were called to a home on Barooga Street about 3.30pm (Monday 15 June 2020), and found the home well-alight.

The body of a man, believed to be the occupant of the home, was pulled from the house by emergency services.

While the body is yet to be formally identified, it is believed to be that of a 65-year-old man.

Fire and Rescue NSW extinguished the blaze and officers from Murray River Police District established a crime scene.

Inquiries have commenced into the circumstances surrounding the fire; the cause of the fire is yet to be determined.

Local detectives are being assisted by the State Crime Command's Financial Crimes Squad's Arson Unit.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
