Man dies after car rolls down driveway, NSW

A man has died after being struck by his vehicle as it rolled down the driveway of his Hunter Valley home last night, NSW Police say.

About 9.30pm (Wednesday 1 November 2017), a 40-year-old man went to get into his car, a Kia 4WD, that was parked in the lock up garage of his East Branxton home.

It’s believed the man decided to roll the car forward before starting the engine in order to not wake members of his household.

About 11pm, the man’s wife went to check on his welfare and found the man lying next to his vehicle deceased.

Early investigations suggest the man may have got caught behind the vehicle as it rolled down a gradient in the driveway and struck his head on a brick wall.

Officers from Hunter Valley Local Area Command will prepare a report for the information of the Coroner.
