Homicide Squad detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a man in Caroline Springs on Monday night.
Police have been told the man was injured and believed to have been stabbed following a fight in the vicinity of a fast food outlet, on the Western Highway near Caroline Springs Boulevard, about 9.10pm.
The injured man was treated by ambulance paramedics before he sadly died at the scene.
Police arrested a man nearby who is currently assisting police with their enquiries.
Local police and detectives have set up a crime scene and are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident or with information to come forward.
