Man Dies After Crash - Arncliffe

A driver has died following a single vehicle crash in Sydney's south yesterday.

About 7pm yesterday (Monday 3 August 2026), emergency services were called to the M5 East Tunnel, Arncliffe, following reports of a crash.

On arrival, officers attached to St George Police Area Command found a single vehicle had crashed into a side wall of the tunnel.

The driver – an 82-year-old man – was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to St George Hospital in a critical condition.

Police were told the man later died in hospital.

The passenger – a 79-year-old woman – was treated at the scene before being taken to St George Hospital in a stable condition

A crime scene was established and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash commenced.

Police will prepare a report for the information of the Coroner.
