Man dies after crash near Cooma

A man has died following a two-vehicle collision in the States Monaro Region.

About 8.30am (Friday 13 March 2020), emergency services were called to Monaro Highway at Rock Flat, about 11km South of Cooma after reports a Toyota Rav4 SUV and Isuzu Dmax Ute had collided, causing the Rav4 to hit a fence, become airborne and roll.

The Toyota driver, a 76-year-old man, was taken to Cooma Hospital but died on arrival. The passenger of the vehicle was air lifted to Canberra Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Isuzu driver, a 22-year-old woman, was uninjured.

Officers from Monaro Police District attended and established a crime scene.

As inquiries continue, anyone with information or dashcam footage is urged to come forward.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
