Man dies after fatal crash in state's south

A man has died and a second is in critical condition following a crash in southern NSW yesterday.

About 1.15pm (Thursday 11 August 2022), emergency services were called to Federation Way, Daysdale, following reports of a collision between two trucks.

One driver died at the scene. While he is yet to be formally identified, he is believed to be aged in his 30s.

The second driver – a 35-year-old man – was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics at the scene before being airlifted to hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

Officers attached to Murray River Police District attended the location and established a crime scene, which was examined by specialist police.

As inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the crash continue, police are urging anyone with information or dashcam footage to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
