Homicide Squad detectives are investigating after a man, who is yet to be formally identified, was located deceased following a shooting incident in Donvale this morning.
Police and emergency services responded to reports of a car which had spun out blocking the inbound lanes on Eastlink about 2.20am.
The sole occupant was located deceased in the vehicle.
The exact circumstances surrounding his death are still being established.
Investigators are working to determine if two abandoned vehicles located in Mooroolbark and Bayswater this morning are linked to this incident.
Eastlink remains closed city bound between Maroondah Highway and Springvale Road.
