Man dies after single-vehicle crash in state's north

An investigation is underway after a man died following a single-vehicle crash at Tumbulgum yesterday.

About 12.45am yesterday (Tuesday 20 December 2022), police from Tweed-Byron Police District were called to Tweed Valley Way, Tumbulgum, after reports a car had collided with the wire road safety barrier system.

The sole occupant of the vehicle, a 71-year-old man, was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to The Tweed Hospital where he was declared deceased.

A crime scene was established which will be forensically examined by specialist police.

An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash is underway.
