Man dies after single-vehicle crash - Riverina 16 April

A man has died following a single-vehicle crash in the state's Riverina yesterday.

About 6.20pm yesterday (Saturday 15 April 2023), emergency services were called to the Sturt Highway at Alfredtown – about 15km east of Wagga Wagga – following reports of a crash.

On arrival, officers from Riverina Police District found a Mitsubishi Triton utility had left the roadway and crashed into a tree.

The driver and single occupant of the utility, a 78-year-old man, were treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics, before taken to Wagga Wagga Base Hospital in a critical condition.

A crime scene was established, and an investigation into the circumstances of the crash commenced.

This afternoon (Sunday 16 April 2023), investigating police received information that the 78-year-old man had passed away in hospital.

Police will prepare a report outlining the circumstances of the man's death for the information of the Coroner.
