Man dies after vehicle falls into construction site after crash at Rockdale

Police are investigating a fatal crash at Rockdale.

Just after 9pm (Thursday 1 August 2019), two vehicles were involved in a crash on the Princes Highway, at the intersection of Bestic Street.

After the initial impact, one of the vehicles travelled through a fence and fell into a vacant construction site which is under excavation.

The passenger of the car, a 23-year-old man, yet to be formally identified, died at the scene.

The 24-year-old female driver suffered minor injuries and was taken to St George Hospital for mandatory testing.

The 25-year-old male driver of the other car involved, a Volvo hatch, was taken to St George Hospital for treatment to shock and for mandatory testing.

Officers from the Crash Investigation Unit are attending the scene to conduct inquiries.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.

The vehicle in the construction site is expected to be salvaged during daylight hours.
