Man dies, Hawkesbury River search operation concludes in Wilberforce

A man's body has been located after a search operation on the Hawkesbury River at Wilberforce.

About 10.30am on Sunday 17 February 2019, emergency services commenced a search operation on the Hawkesbury River at Wilberforce, after three men are believed to have fallen from a jet-ski.

The men were on a section of the river near Percys Place Ski Gardens on Burdekin Road before all three fell into the water.

A 35-year-old man was uninjured and able to swim to shore.

A 49-year-old man was recovered from the water by emergency services, and taken to Hawkesbury Hospital, however was unable to be revived.

A 60-year-old man was unable to be located and a joint search operation commenced between officers from Hawkesbury Police Area Command, Marine Area Command, PolAir, Blue Mountains Police Area Command Police Rescue, RMS, Marine Volunteer Rescue, and Hawkesbury SES.

The search operation continued from Sunday, until about 8.50am today (Tuesday 19 February 2019), when the body of a man was found washed ashore about 800-900 metres from the site of the jet-ski incident.

Whilst he is yet to be formally identified, it's believed to be the body of the missing 60-year-old man.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
