Man dies in Combienbar fire

Police are investigating following a fatal fire in Combienbar yesterday.

Neighbours contacted emergency services about 8.20am on Wednesday, 13 April after seeing distant smoke from the property.

Detectives from the East Gippsland Crime Investigation Unit and Arson and Explosives Squad attended the scene and last night located the body of a man.

While his identity is yet to be formally confirmed, it is believed to be the 75-year-old occupant of the address.

The exact circumstances of the fire are still to be determined, however at this stage it is not being treated as suspicious.

An arson chemist also continued to examine the scene today.
