Man dies in crash at Wilton

A man has died following a crash in Sydney's southwest yesterday.

About 7.45pm yesterday (Thursday 26 May 2022), emergency services attended Picton Road, Wilton, about 3km west of Macarthur Street, following reports a car and a truck had collided.

Officers attached to Camden Police Area Command, with the assistance of the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit, arrived and found a Toyota Yaris and a truck had collided in the eastbound lane before the Toyota left the roadway, crashing into a tree.

The driver of the car – a 54-year-old man – died at the scene.

A crime scene was established, and an investigation has commenced into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

A 42-year-old man was breath tested at the scene and produced a negative result. He was taken to Campbelltown Hospital for mandatory testing.

As inquiries continue, police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone who may have dashcam footage to contact Camden Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
