Man dies in two-vehicle crash near Boggabri

The Kamilaroi Highway has re-opened nine hours after a fatal crash south of Boggabri.

Emergency services responded to reports of the crash shortly after 5am (Wednesday 16 March 2022),10km south of Boggabri, and found a southbound car and northbound ute had collided in the northbound lane.

A man driving the car sustained critical head injuries and died at the scene. The man has not yet been formally identified.

A 23-year-old Gunnedah man driving the ute was not injured and was taken to Gunnedah Hospital for treatment for the effects of shock.

The highway re-opened about 2pm.

Inquiries are being conducted by officers attached to Oxley Police District.
