Man disqualified from driving until 2046 charged after vehicle stop - Riverina HWP

A man banned from driving until 2046 has been charged after being caught behind the wheel in the state's Riverina overnight.

About 11pm yesterday (Thursday 27 May 2021), officers attached to Riverina Traffic and Highway Patrol Command were conducting high-visibility patrols near Wagga Wagga, when they stopped a Ford Falcon on Glenfield Road, Mount Austin.

Officers spoke to the driver, a 33-year-old man, and checks revealed he was disqualified from driving until 2046.

The man was subject to a roadside breath and drug test and allegedly returned a positive detection for methylamphetamine. Further analysis will be conducted.

The Tolland man was arrested and taken to Wagga Wagga Police Station, where he was charged with drive motor vehicle during disqualification period – second offence.

He was refused bail and appeared in Wagga Wagga Local Court earlier today (Friday 28 May 2021).
