Man ejected from car after Essendon North freeway crash

A man is fighting for his life following a single vehicle crash in Essendon North this morning.

Emergency services were called to the Tullamarine Freeway, near the Bulla Road exit, following reports a car had crashed into a barrier about 12.45am.

The 24-year-old Broadmeadows driver was ejected from the vehicle and sustained life-threatening injuries.

Police are investigating reports the Broadmeadows man was seen driving the black Mazda 6 sedan at a fast rate of speed just prior to the crash.

An examination of the vehicle at the scene uncovered a quantity of drugs and drug paraphernalia.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash and are keen to speak to any witnesses or anyone who may have seen the Mazda 6 sedan prior to the crash.
