Man extradited to face DV assault charges in Armidale

A man is due to appear in Armidale Local Court today after being extradited from Queensland on domestic violence-related arrest warrants, NSW Police say.

Police from New England Local Area Command sought the warrants when investigating the alleged assault of a pregnant woman in July 2015, after she was treated for multiple facial fractures.

A second warrant relates to the alleged assault of a man in April 2015; this man was also treated for facial injuries, including severe bruising and swelling.

Police have been investigating the man’s whereabouts and, last Sunday (14 May 2017), a 28-year-old man was arrested by Queensland Police’s detectives from Ipswich and the Tactical Crime Squad, at a home in Alice Street, Goodna.

He was taken to the Ipswich Watch House where officers from the New England Target Action group (TAG) were granted his extradition to NSW.

He was taken to Armidale Police Station where he was charged with two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

He was refused bail to appear in Armidale Local Court today.
