Man extradited to Tasmania over Cygnet wounding

A 27-year-old French national has been extradited to Tasmania from Queensland as part of an investigation into a wounding at Cygnet in January.

A Lymington man in his 20s received significant head, facial and neck injuries after a disturbance outside the Cygnet Hotel in the early hours of Sunday, 14 January.

The subsequent police investigation involving officers from Kingston CIB, with assistance from police at Huonville and Cygnet, identified the alleged offender as being a French national, who reportedly left Tasmania two days after the incident.

He was extradited from Queensland yesterday, and will appear in the Hobart Magistrates Court at 11am, charged with one count of wounding.
