Man Faces 14 Firearm Charges Near Murray River

A man has been charged with firearm offences, after police allegedly seized five unregistered firearms in the state's south.

About 10.15am on Tuesday 3 March 2026, officers attached to Murray River Police District Rural Crime Prevention Team with assistance from Murray River Police District detectives, executed a search warrant on a rural property in Koraleigh, about 70 kilometres south-east of Balranald.

Police allegedly located and seized five unregistered firearms, including four rifles and one shotgun, in the boot of a car on the property.

Ammunition was also allegedly seized from a shed.

A 34-year-old man was arrested and taken to Barham Police Station.

He was charged with 14 offences;

- Possess unauthorised firearm (five counts)

- Not keep firearm safely-not pistol/prohibited (five counts)

- Possess ammunition without holding licence/permit/authority (three counts)

- Possess more than 3 unregistered firearms without licence/permit

He was granted conditional bail to appear in Moama Local Court on Friday 15 May 2026.
