Man faces court after aggravated robbery at Bathurst

A man will face court today after allegedly robbing and assaulting a man with a cricket bat in the state's Central West.

About 7.30am Friday (26 July 2019), it is alleged the 47-year-old man entered a home on Howick Street at Bathurst and demanded money from the male occupant.

It is alleged the older man struck the 28-year-old several times with a cricket bat, before stealing a mobile phone and leaving the home.

Officers attached to Chifley Police District were alerted to the incident and commenced an investigation into the matter.

At 11.55am the same day, police arrested the man at a Webb Place address in West Bathurst.

He was arrested and taken to Bathurst Police Station where he was charged with aggravated robbery.

He was refused bail to appear before Bathurst Local Court today (Monday 29 July 2019).

It is alleged the two men are known to one another.
