Man fighting for life after Berwick hit-run

A man is fighting for his life following a suspected hit-run in Berwick in the early hours of this morning.

Police have been told the man was found injured on the side of the Princes Highway, between Neill and Peel streets, about 12.15am.

It is understood a passenger in a ride-share vehicle noticed the man injured in the gutter, as he was being driven past the area, and raised the alarm.

The injured man is believed to have suffered life-threatening injuries after being struck by a car. He has been taken to hospital for treatment.

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives have attended the scene and are investigating.

Detectives are appealing for information after it appears the man may have been hit by a black car which it is believed would have extensive damage to the passenger front wheel arch and well as passenger front lights.

The Princes Highway has been blocked in the vicinity of the collision.
