Man hospitalised after single-vehicle crash at Oxley

A man has been taken to hospital following a single-vehicle crash in the state's north east yesterday.

About 10.50pm (Wednesday 5 January 2022), emergency services responded to the Oxley Highway, about 15km east of Gunnedah, after reports a vehicle had lost control and left the roadway, colliding with a tree.

The driver, a 53-year-old man, was trapped for a short time before being extracted from the vehicle.

He was treated by NSW Ambulance Paramedics, before being airlifted to John Hunter Hospital at Newcastle, in a serious condition.

The passenger, a 53-year-old man, suffered minor injuries and did not require treatment.

Officers attached to Oxley Police District established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Investigations continue.
